USB 3.2 Doubles the Speed to 20Mbps

Yesterday, the USB Promoter Group unveiled the specification for their next USB 3.2 standard.

They stated that the speeds on USB 3.2 will be doubled compared to the previous 3.1 standard without the need for new cables. So that basically means that USB 3.2 gen 1 cables will double their speeds from 5Gbps to 10Gbps and USB 3.1 gen 2 cables will double their speeds from 10Gbps to 20Gbps.

Although your cables may support the new standard your devices will not. In order to take an advantage of the new standard you will need to buy a new device that supports it. But that was already expected.
